Kathmandu – The Patan High Court has issued an order to allow the construction of the old Kathmandu Tower to proceed without interruption.

The court granted an interim order against the Kathmandu Metropolitan City’s directive to halt the tower’s construction, which is taking place at the old bus park. This decision came during a hearing on a petition filed by Swachhanda Bikoï Builders, presided over by Justice Prakash Kharel.

Earlier in January, the Metropolitan Office had instructed the halt of the tower’s construction. Controversy arose when Mayor Balendra Shah accused Chief Administrative Officer Saroj Guragai of approving a permit for a 19-story building despite the original blueprint allowing only 12 stories. This issue led to a clash between them, causing delays in other necessary work.

Saroj Guragai remains with the Metropolitan Office, and the ongoing conflict between him and Mayor Shah continues to affect the city’s operations.
