OpenAI has launched a new version called GPT-5 starting Thursday. This is a major improvement to its AI-based ChatGPT.

It’s said to offer enhanced capabilities in handling health-related queries, writing, and code generation. However, OpenAI has clarified that it has not yet achieved human-level intelligence (AGI).

All ChatGPT users will have access to GPT-5. But only users with a Pro subscription—at $200 per month—will enjoy unlimited access. Other users will face usage limits, reverting to older models once those limits are reached.

GPT-5 has the ability to provide step-by-step reasoning. For complex questions, it can break down the query into parts and explain them sequentially. Many users have described it as feeling like a “PhD-level expert,” and it’s expected to enhance professional work efficiency.

With just minimal instructions, GPT-5 automatically built a French-learning website that included word games and daily vocabulary quizzes. This is seen as the beginning of the “Software on Demand” concept.

GPT-5 also has a lower error rate in responses and is less likely to offer overly flattering or imbalanced praise. Nick Turley (Head of ChatGPT Product) has claimed GPT-5 offers writing with “excellent taste.”

Additionally, users can now connect ChatGPT with their Google Calendar and email, enabling GPT-5 to suggest tasks based on their timetable. OpenAI officials say GPT-5 provides a “human-like” experience.

In emotionally or mentally distressing scenarios, GPT-5 is being developed in collaboration with international medical professionals to improve its behavior toward vulnerable users.

This effort is believed to significantly strengthen the provision of a safe and responsible AI experience.
