One month of monsoon: 31 people dead, 112 injured

Kathmandu, Nepal – From May 29 to June 30, 674 incidents related to the monsoon have been reported, resulting in the deaths of 31 people and injuries to 112 others.

According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority, during this period, there were 87 landslide incidents, which partially damaged 25 houses and completely destroyed 11 houses.

In the same timeframe, one bridge, seven sheds, and 14 livestock were lost. The landslides caused damage estimated at 22.1 million rupees.

Furthermore, in 64 flood-related incidents, four people died and four others were injured. The floods affected 123 families and damaged four houses.

There were also 82 lightning incidents, leading to the deaths of eight people and injuries to 20 others. Additionally, 45 storm incidents left one person dead and three injured. Overall, the disasters have caused economic losses of approximately 260 million rupees.
