Kathmandu – The ruling Nepali Congress party has called for the swift resolution of cooperative fraud cases, with a particular focus on those involving Rabi Lamichhane, the chairman of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP).

During the central committee meeting, which began on June 30 and concluded on Monday, the party released a decision urging the prompt conclusion of these fraud cases and demanding accountability for those found guilty.

While the RSP is conducting a signature campaign nationwide, alleging that its chairman Lamichhane is being targeted by politically motivated lawsuits, the Congress party has now made its position clear regarding cooperative fraud cases.

The Congress party has requested the government to facilitate the rapid return of up to five lakh rupees to savers who were defrauded by cooperatives.

In a statement issued by Chief Secretary Krishna Prasad Paudel, he emphasized the need for effective policies to safeguard the savings of defrauded depositors. The statement urges the government to ensure the immediate return of up to five lakh rupees to affected savers, expedite pending legal proceedings, and take urgent steps to bring those guilty under the law for a long-term resolution to these issues.

The party’s central committee has made these demands at a time when there are accusations that certain leaders from the Congress and UML parties involved in cooperative fraud have been given impunity, highlighting the necessity for a swift resolution of these cases.
