Nepal Qualifies for U-19 Women’s World Cup by Defeating UAE

Kathmandu – In the ICC U-19 Women’s T20 World Cup Asia Qualifier, Nepal has qualified for the World Cup next year in Malaysia by defeating UAE. Nepal secured a spot in the World Cup with an 8-wicket win in the decisive match against UAE.

To qualify for the World Cup, Nepal needed to chase down a modest target of 84 runs set by UAE in 16.2 overs. Nepal achieved the target, finishing with 10 points, equal to UAE, but with a superior net run rate, earning a place in the World Cup. Nepal had earlier been defeated by UAE in their first match.

In the decisive game, Nepal completed the target in 14.4 overs, losing 2 wickets along the way. Opener Sanaa Prabin played an unbeaten innings of 35 runs, while Sabitra Dhami was out for 12 runs. Captain Pooja Mahato made 21 runs, and Sony Pakhrein remained not out on 13 runs.

Earlier, UAE won the toss and chose to bat first. They managed to score 83 runs, losing 9 wickets in the process. For UAE, captain Sameera Dharanidharaka top-scored with 31 runs, while Rinitha Ranjitha made 20 runs. Induja Nandakumari and Lavnaya Keni both scored 10 runs each.

For Nepal, Krishma Gurung took 4 wickets, while Riya Sharma and Simana KC took 2 wickets each. Rachana Chaudhary also claimed 1 wicket.
