NEB decides to conduct Grade 12 exams on scheduled date

Bhaktapur, April 22: The National Examinations Board (NEB) has decided to conduct the Grade 12 examinations on the scheduled date, i.e. from April 24 itself.

A meeting of the Board held at Sanothimi today decided to conduct the examinations on the set date and urged the students not to get confused about it.

There was confusion among the students and parents whether or not the examination will take place on the scheduled date due to the ongoing movement and demo of the Confederation of Nepalese Teachers and after the Confederation decided not to cooperate in administering of the examination.

Controller of Examinations Krishna Sharma said that the Board has decided to conduct the examination on time even by mobilizing the government employees if the teachers did not cooperated in conducting the exams. He shared that the examination schedule would not be changed as doing so would lead to the waste of the students’ preparation time and hamper the regular exam schedule, and in this connection, the decision has been taken to conduct the examination by giving the responsibility to the District Examination Coordination Committee in each district under the coordination of Chief District Officer.

It is decided that the Chief District Officer shall conduct the examination within the stipulated time by mobilizing the civil servants of the district at each examination centre.

The available teachers not participating in the agitation will be assigned as the exam superintendent and assistant superintendent at the examination centre and in case of the examination centres where this is not possible, the Chief District Officer shall take a decision to manage the exam.

Today’s meeting of the Board has also decided to call upon the agitating teachers to cooperate in conducting the Grade 12 examinations.

About 500,000 students will appear for the Grade 12 examination this year. A total of 1,591 examination centres, including one in Japan, have been managed for the examination. NEB is preparing to deploy around 2,000 employees, 20,000 security personnel, the exam superintendents and deputy superintendents depending on the number of students sitting for the exams and at least one office assistant at each examination centre for the examination.
