Narendra Modi takes oath as Indian PM third time, forms 68- member council of ministers
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with a 68-member council of ministers has been sworn in this evening.
Modi becomes India’s second Prime Minister to be sworn in as the Prime Minister for the third consecutive term. President Drauladi Murmu administered the oath of office and secrecy to the new council of ministers in the presence of ten thousand invitees , an event watched by millions in India and the world outside.
Modi retained almost all senior ministers winning the elections from BJP, including Rajnath Singh, Amit Shah, Nitin Gadkari, Nirmala Sithatsman, S Jai Shankar, Dharmendra Zpradhan and Piyush Goel. He also included ministers from other constituents of the National Democratic Alliance . Modi’s BJp has won 240 seats , far short of the required majority on its own but has managed the number together with NDA allies.
The current strength of the NDA is lesser compared to Modu’s 2014 and 2019 tenure during which the BJP alone commanded absolute majority. Others included are Hardeep Singh Puri, Giriraj Singh, Anupriya Patel, Jyotiraditya Scindia, JP Nadda, Mansukh Mandaviya, and Lalan Singh.
