Kathmandu, May 11: Today’s meeting of the National Assembly (NA) has passed the government’s policies and programmes for the upcoming financial year by majority.

The NA Chair Narayan Prasad Dahal announced that the policies and programmes have been passed by a majority in the Assembly.

The amendment proposals brought up by the lawmakers on various points of the policies and programmes document presented by the government in the Assembly were rejected by majority.

Earlier, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli had answered questions raised regarding the government’s policies and programmes. During that, he stated that the policies and programmes were presented with the aim of promoting good governance and accelerating the pace of development.

“The need to preserve and promote national interests while maintaining the country’s sovereignty, independence, and autonomy has been incorporated into the policies and programmes,” Prime Minister Oli said on the occasion.
He expressed concern over the misuse of social media to advance anarchy in society as a political act and emphasized the need to be aware of attacks on the system.

The PM emphasized that one should be vigilant against elements that reject democracy and oppose the system in the name of advocating for the old system, causing damage to public and people’s property.

He expressed the commitment that the suggestions made during the discussion on the policies and programmes would be included in the upcoming budget.

Prime Minister Oli also clarified that the constitution would be amended based on consensus of everyone’s feelings, education would be made accessible and useful for life, the current education system would be modernized and made scientific, and a strong and balanced neighborhood and international relations would be established.
