Kathmandu – The Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist Centre) has demanded an investigation into Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli regarding the “cooling-off period” controversy embedded within the Federal Civil Service Bill.

In the House of Representatives session on Wednesday, Maoist MP Lekhnath Dahal stated that, following UML members in the National Assembly proposing an amendment to eliminate the cooling-off period provision, suspicion has also arisen regarding the Prime Minister.

“A parliamentary investigative committee has been formed to examine who committed wrongdoing during the cooling-off period. In this context, honorable members from UML— the Prime Minister’s affiliated party— participating in the National Assembly have submitted an amendment against the cooling-off period. This generates suspicion toward the Prime Minister as well. I urge the parliamentary investigation committee to include him within its scope,” Dahal said.

Following the UML members’ amendment proposal in the National Assembly to remove the cooling-off period, even the Nepali Congress has grown critical of UML. Dr. Shekhar Koirala, a leader of Nepali Congress, has already voiced objection to the UML’s amendment move in the Federal Civil Service Bill within the National Assembly.
