Light to moderate rain forecast in eastern Nepal
Kathmandu, Oct 1: The sky, which cleared a couple of days ago following continuous rains that caused significant disasters, is forecast to turn cloudy in Koshi Province starting today.
According to the Meteorological Forecasting Division of the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, the sky over Koshi Province is currently cloudy, and this weather pattern is expected to have an impact in the Madhesh, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces as well.
Meteorologist Pratibha Manandhar said that cloudy skies and light to moderate rainfall are expected in Koshi, with effects extending to Madhesh, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces. This atmospheric condition is expected to persist until Thursday. While no significant and continuous rainfall is forecast, the soil across nearly all parts of the country has become heavily moist and loose due to recent significant rains.
Any additional rain could pose a risk of landslide and flooding. The monsoon winds are currently influencing weather patterns throughout the country. A low-pressure system positioned in Madhya Pradesh, India, is contributing to these conditions in Nepal. Tonight, there will be partly to generally cloudy skies in Koshi Province, Bagmati Province, and Gandaki Province, along with the hilly regions of the rest of the country. The remaining areas are expected to be partly cloudy to mainly fair.
Light to moderate rain, accompanied by thunder and lightning, is likely to occur in some areas of Koshi Province and a few locations in the hilly regions of Bagmati and Gandaki provinces, as well as in one or two places in the hilly regions of the rest of the country. Light to moderate rain is expected in Koshi, Madhes, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces on Wednesday, October 2. The same weather conditions are forecast for Thursday, with the possibility of heavy rainfall in one or two parts of Koshi Province, according to the Division.
