Kathmandu – A cybercrime case has been filed against journalist Dilbhushan Pathak at the Kathmandu District Court.

The case was lodged by the District Government Attorney’s Office in Kathmandu on Monday, following an investigation by the Cyber Bureau. Although the investigation and subsequent filing of the case were based on a complaint by Jayveer Deuba, the son of Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba, his name is not officially mentioned. Instead, the prosecution refers to him under a pseudonym, Cyber Bureau 59 (2081/82).

Pathak has been accused under Section 47 of the Electronic Transactions Act 2063. The charges against him include a potential fine of one lakh rupees, five years of imprisonment, or both.

The case arose after Pathak allegedly created and uploaded content on YouTube claiming that Jayveer was an investor in the Hilton Hotel.

Although the police obtained a warrant for Pathak’s arrest from the Kathmandu District Court, the Patan High Court issued an interim order preventing his arrest.
