Kristin, Tenjen receive grand welcome at TIA (Pictures)

Kristin Harila, Norway and Nepali guide Tenjen (Lama) Sherpa, the world record climbers, have received a grand welcome at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA).

Sushila Sirpali Thakuri, Minister of State for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, welcomed them at TIA upon their return to Nepal after the successful summit of Mt K2.

Representatives of Tourism Ministry, Department of Tourism, Nepal Mountaineering Association, different organisations related to tourism and climbers were present on the occasion.

With the successful summit of Mt K2 (8611 meters) in Pakistan on July 27, Harila and Sherpa have set a record by scaling 14 mountains higher than 8,000 meters of the world in three months- Mt Everest, Kanchanjangha, Lotshe, Makalu, Dhaulagiri, Manaslu, Cho Oyu, Sishapangma, Nagma Parbat, Gasherbrum-II, Gasherbrum-I, Broad Peak and Mt K2-, according to Seven Summit Treks Company.

Earlier in 2019, a climber Nirmal Purja had set the record of climbing 14 mountains of the world above 8,000 meters in six months and six days.
