Kathmandu – Senior Nepali Congress leader Dr. Shekhar Koirala has called a meeting of leaders affiliated with his faction. The gathering began at 8 a.m. today at Koirala’s contact office in Baluwatar.

Koirala organized this meeting to discuss the recent disciplinary actions taken by the party’s central committee against a number of leaders. The committee accused these leaders of not supporting the party’s official candidates during the 2079 elections.

On Wednesday, the central discipline committee released a list of penalized leaders, which included many from Koirala’s group. In response, members of Koirala’s faction have expressed their anger over these actions.

It is understood that the meeting is currently addressing the recent developments within the party and deliberating on strategies to adopt following the disciplinary measures.
