Kathmandu – Saroj Guragain, the Chief Administrative Officer of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, was forcibly entered into his office on Wednesday after a prolonged dispute with the city’s leadership. Employees and ward chairpersons broke down his office door to facilitate his return.

Guragain’s return comes after a three-month and fourteen-day absence, during which the Metropolitan City had locked his office. The city had previously taken action against him, alleging he approved unauthorized building maps for the Kathmandu Tower at Old Bus Park. Specifically, he was accused of approving a 19-story map when the original plan called for 12 stories.

This discrepancy led to a conflict between Guragain and Kathmandu Mayor Balendra Shah (Balen). Despite the ongoing dispute, Guragain entered his office today and stated that he will resume his regular duties from tomorrow.

Municipal police attempted to intervene during the forced entry but were unsuccessful.
