Karnali reached Qualifier-2 by defeating Chitwan by 21 runs

Kathmandu – Karnali Yaks have secured a place in the Qualifier-2 of the Nepal Premier League (NPL) by defeating Chitwan Rhinos by 21 runs.

Now, to enter the final, Karnali will compete on Thursday against the team that loses in the first qualifier between Sudurpashchim Royals and Janakpur Bolts.

Karnali, batting first after losing the toss, set a target of 176 runs. Chitwan, in response, was restricted to 154 runs, losing 9 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Ravi Bopara played the best innings for Chitwan, scoring 53 runs.

Bopara hit 3 fours and 4 sixes off 34 balls, but it wasn’t enough for his team to win. Hasan Aiesakhil contributed 18 runs, while Luck Benkenstein made 16 runs. Similarly, Kushal Mall was out for 21 runs, and Sard Bheshwakar was dismissed for 10 runs.

For Karnali, Jason Macksud took 3 wickets, while Sompal Kami and Nandan Yadav took 2 wickets each. Dev Khanal also took 1 wicket. Karnali’s Gulshan Jha took 4 catches.

Earlier, batting first after losing the toss, Karnali posted 175 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in their allotted 20 overs.

For Karnali, opener Jaykishan Kolaswala scored 53 runs in an important half-century, while William Bastisto scored 52 runs off 39 balls, hitting 3 fours and 2 sixes. Kolaswala and Bastisto shared a 59-run partnership for the third wicket.

Subsequently, Bastisto and Chadwick Walton added 67 runs for the fifth wicket before Bastisto was dismissed. Walton also made 46 runs off 23 balls, hitting 4 fours and 3 sixes.

For Chitwan, Sohail Tanvir took 2 wickets, while Sard Bheshwakar, Ravi Bopara, and Kushal Mall each took 1 wicket.
