Indra Baniya has been appointed as the Chief Minister of Bagmati Province

Hetauda –  Indra Bahadur Baniya has been appointed as the Chief Minister of Bagmati Province.

In the 110‑member Provincial Assembly, he received the support of 64 MPs—37 from Nepali Congress and 27 from CPN-UML—and was thus selected as Chief Minister by Province Chief Deepak Prasad Devkota.

As President of the Nepali Congress in Bagmati Province, Baniya becomes the sixth Chief Minister of the province.

The previous Chief Ministers were Dormani Poudel, Astalaxmi Shakya, Rajendra Prasad Pandey, Shalikram Jamkattel, and Bahadur Singh Lama.

Baniya has previously served in the federal government as State Minister for Home Affairs, and as State Minister for Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation.
