India’s Power Minister arrives on two-day official visit

Kathmandu, April 22: India’s Minister for Power, Housing and Urban Affairs, Manohar Lal Khattar, arrived here today on a two-day official visit to Nepal.

He arrived here at the invitation of Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Deepak Khadka. The Minister is scheduled to visit the Arun III Hydroelectric Project’s power house and dam based in Sankhuwasabha district.

The 900-megawatt-project is being developed at Makalu rural municipality in the district at an investment of Rs 104 billion from India.

It was jointly launched by incumbent and the then Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2075 BS.

Similarly, the Indian minister will witness a signing ceremony for the Lamki-Bareli and Inaruwa-Purniya transmission lines to be jointly organised by Nepal and India today. The signing ceremony will be held in Kathmandu, according to the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation.

Similarly, Minister Khattar is scheduled to pay a courtesy call on Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and on Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Urban Development, Prakashman Singh. Likewise, he will engage in religious trip to the Mustang and the Pashupatinath in Kathmandu.
