India Narrowly Defeats Pakistan by 6 Runs in Tense T20 World Cup Clash
In a closely contested second match of Group ‘A’ in the T20 World Cup, India triumphed over Pakistan by a narrow margin of 6 runs.
This victory marks India’s second consecutive win in the tournament, propelling them to the top of their group, while Pakistan, with its second loss, faces a reduced likelihood of progressing to the top eight. The game was held at the Nassau Country International Cricket Ground in New York. Pakistan, having won the toss and chosen to field first, managed to restrict India to a modest total of 119 runs by the 19th over.
Rishabh Pant led India’s scoring with 42 runs, followed by Axar Patel who added 20 runs. Captain Rohit Sharma contributed 13 runs, but the rest of the batting lineup struggled to make significant scores. Pakistan’s bowlers showcased a strong performance, with Naseem Shah and Haris Rauf capturing three wickets each, both conceding 21 runs. Mohammad Amir claimed two wickets, and Shahin Afridi took one.
Chasing a target of 120, Pakistan managed 113 runs for the loss of seven wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Mohammad Rizwan was the top scorer for Pakistan with 31 runs, while Babar Azam, Usman Khan, and Fakhar Zaman each contributed 13 runs. Imad Wasim was out for 15 runs. On the Indian side, Jasprit Bumrah led the bowling attack by taking three wickets, supported by Hardik Pandya with two wickets, and both Arshdeep Singh and Axar Patel took one wicket each, clinching the victory for India.
