In Bagmati Province, Chief Minister Baniya along with eight ministers took the oath of office

Kathmandu – On Tuesday, Indra Bahadur Baniya, the newly appointed Chief Minister of Bagmati Province, and eight other ministers took the oath of office and secrecy.

The oath-taking ceremony was held at the Province Chief’s Office in Hetauda, Makwanpur, as reported by the office of the Province Chief.

Province Chief [Deepak Prasad] Devkota had appointed Baniya as Chief Minister under Article 168(2) of the Constitution, based on the recommendation of the Nepali Congress’s parliamentary party leader. Chief Minister Baniya, in turn, recommended eight ministers—two from the Nepali Congress and six from the CPN-UML—to the Province Chief, who officially appointed them.

From CPN‑UML, the following were appointed:

  • Dineshchandra Devkota as Minister for Physical Infrastructure

  • Jayaram Thapa as Minister for Labour and Employment

  • Bharat Bahadur KC as Minister for Forest and Environment

  • Madhusudan Paudel as Minister for Agriculture and Livestock

  • Bindu Shrestha as Minister for Industry

  • Kiran Thapa Magar as Minister for Health

From Nepali Congress, the appointments were:

  • Krishna Bahadur Tamang as Minister for Drinking Water

  • Shivraj Adhikari as a Minister (portfolio not specified in the report)
