Govt. asks Army to stay on high alert
Kathmandu, 04 Oct: The government today has told the Nepal Army to stay on high alert following the increased communal tensions in different parts of the country.
A meeting of the National Security Council chaired by Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ in the afternoon assessed the prevailing situation and put the army on high alert signaling that it may be deployed in more areas.
The participants of the meeting, besides PM Prachanda, include Deputy Prime Minister in charge of Defense Ministry, Purna Bahadur Khadka, Finance Minister Prakash Saran Mahat, Minister of Foreign Affairs N P Saud together with chief of all the security forces.
In the meantime, curfew was in force in Nepalgunj for the second consecutive day following religious unrest for which social media is largely being blamed.
Dharan and Sarlahi too saw such unpleasant communal clashes.
