Gold seized at TIA weighs 60.716 kg
Kathmandu, 15 August: The actual weight of gold seized at the Tribhuvan International Airport on July 19 has been announced 60.716 kilograms.
The final weight was announced on Tuesday after the Mint Division of the Nepal Rastra Bank completed the weighing process.
Earlier the gross weight of consignment confiscated was announced to be 155.468 kg including break shoes and gold alone was said to be about 100 kg.
The consignment that had been cleared out by the customs at the TIA on the day had been seized from a taxi by the Department of Revenue Investigation at the premises of TIA.
The gold smuggled from Hong Kong belonged to the Ready Trade, an import company, set up in the name of Dilip Bhujel, a laborer hiding inside brake shoes of motorcycle.
