Humla –The Humla District Hospital provided free medical treatment valued at more than NPR 1,171,805 during fiscal year 2081/82, dedicated to supporting the targeted beneficiary groups across the district. This service was funded by a budget allocated to the Social Security Branch under the Ministry of Health of the federal government.

According to Deepak Bhandari, chairperson of the Hospital Development Committee, the hospital followed its established eligibility criteria while treating 1,243 patients from targeted groups—such as the poor, helpless individuals, disabled persons, senior citizens, survivors of gender-based violence, female health volunteers, victims of disasters or calamities, marginalized or endangered communities, indigenous ethnic groups, impoverished and destitute patients, families of martyrs, and malnourished children.

All of these patients from the designated categories received free treatment at the hospital. Seventy-seven‑year‑old senior citizen Jaimal Budha confirmed that he received treatment free of charge and his health has since stabilized. He emphasized the importance of raising awareness about this service in every village, noting that because of the region’s remoteness and rising costs, the allocated budget was insufficient. He suggested that since the service has proven effective, it should be continued and more widely publicized.
