Kathmandu, Former King Gyabendra Shah today made an open call to the people with no ambiguity that country needs the monarchy back for its progress and prestige.

In a message on the occasion of the 74th Democracy Day, he  called upon the people to support him to save the nation and ensure its progress and prosperity.

In his customary message , he said the dedication and commitment for the nation ‘from our side’ —is full and ‘ we are ready to do every thing required further.’ The call of the monarch who vacated the Royal palace and privilege after the Constituent Assembly decided to abolish the 238- year old Shah dynasty in May 2008,  in a controversial way , also dispels doubts that he is not clear about what he is thinking about the country .

Shah’s call also comes at a time  when political parties and successive regimes since 2006 political change are facing public wrath increasingly , mainly on grounds of corruption and culture of impunity.
‘It’s time now, to save the country for which I deserve all support, ‘ he said.

The former king also reminded the political parties and the people  that he had chosen to quietly step out with a generous mind to support peace, but that magnanimity was seen as weakness which never was the case’.
