Former King Gyanendra Flies to Thimphu at the Invitation of Bhutan’s Royal Family

Former King Gyanendra flew to Thimphu today at the invitation of the Royal Family of Bhutan. He boarded a Druk Airlines flight in the morning, accompanied by his daughter Prerana, his niece Sitashma, and his secretarial staff.

The former king received a rousing reception at Tribhuvan International Airport, where his followers chanted slogans calling for the return of the monarchy.

According to his press secretariat, it is a private visit. He is scheduled to return home on Sunday.
