Foreign secretary Lamsal nominated for envoy to Belgium, Amrit Rai likely to succeed her

Kathmandu: Sewa Lamsal, Nepal’s first women Foreign secretary has been nominated for appointment to Brussels, Headquarters of the European Union.

Amrit Rai, senior Joint secretary and currently the spokesperson in the Ministry of Foreign affairs , is likely to be promoted as the next foreign secretary.

Lamsal will however, continue in the current post till the Parliamentary hearing committee decides on her and other nominees for various other countries as Nepal’s ambassadors.

Already, Kanti Rizal has been dropped from the list sent for hearing where as the fate of Shankar Sharma , nominated for India for
consecutive term a couple of months after his recall , hangs in balance as the policy directive issued by the government prohibits
reappointment in the same country.
