Flood wreaks havoc in Rasuwa, most of Timure customs area destroyed (Photos)

Rasuwa – On Tuesday morning, July 8th, a sudden flood originating from China caused severe damage to both property and lives in Rasuwa. The flood wreaked havoc in the Rasuwagadhi area, specifically in Gosaikunda Rural Municipality-2, completely destroying the Timure customs area.

According to the Nepal Police, the bodies of nine individuals have been recovered from the flood-hit region.

The police headquarters has reported that 19 people are still missing. Among those missing are two police officers, six Chinese nationals, and 11 locals. Additionally, 57 individuals have been successfully rescued, as stated in police reports.

A total of 383 police personnel were deployed for rescue operations. The flood swept away the friendship bridge at the Nepal-China border, as well as 24 containers, six trucks, and 35 electric vehicles.

The road from Syabrubesi to Timure is entirely blocked, and the flood has also caused damage to the dam at Rasuwagadhi Hydropower and the premises of the Rasuwa customs office.
