England clinched a 22-run victory over India in the Lord’s Test match. Entering the final day of play on Monday, India needed 135 runs with six wickets in hand. However, their lineup faltered and they were bowled out for just 112 runs. With this win, England now leads the five-Test series 2-1. The fourth Test is scheduled to start on July 23 in Manchester.

Winning the toss, England opted to bat first, putting up a total of 387 runs in their first innings, thanks largely to Joe Root’s 104-run century. Jamie Smith and Brydon Carse contributed with half-centuries, scoring 51 and 56 runs respectively. For India, Jasprit Bumrah claimed five wickets.

In response, India matched England’s first-innings score with 387 runs, bolstered by KL Rahul’s century. While Rahul was dismissed for 100, Rishabh Pant scored 74 and Ravindra Jadeja made 72. For England, Chris Woakes took three wickets, while Jofra Archer and Ben Stokes each picked up two.

In their second innings, England collapsed to just 192 runs, leaving India a target of 193 runs. However, India failed to capitalize on England’s low second-innings score. Joe Root’s 40 was the highest individual score for England. Washington Sundar took four wickets for India, while Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj each claimed two, and Nitish Kumar Reddy and Aakash Deep took one apiece.

Chasing 193, India was bowled out for 170 runs. Ravindra Jadeja remained unbeaten on 61 but lacked support from his teammates, with no other notable performances apart from a 39-run effort.

Jofra Archer and Ben Stokes were instrumental in England’s victory, each taking three wickets. Brydon Carse bagged two wickets, while Chris Woakes and Saquib Mahmood took one each.
