Kathmandu – Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has appointed Dr. Deepak Aryal as the new Vice-Chancellor of Tribhuvan University. This decision comes following a recommendation from a selection committee led by Minister for Education, Science, and Technology, Raghuji Pant. Three candidates had been recommended to Prime Minister Oli, who also serves as the Chancellor of the university, on July 7.

The committee had put forward the names in alphabetical order, which included acting Vice-Chancellor Dr. Khadag KC, former Dean of the Faculty of Science Dr. Vinil Aryal, and former head of the Central Department of Hydrology and Meteorology Dr. Deepak Aryal.

The position became vacant after the resignation of the previous Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Keshar Jung Baral, was accepted on April 10. Until a successor was appointed, Prime Minister Oli had assigned Dr. KC to temporarily handle the responsibilities for a maximum period of three months.
