A meeting is currently underway at the Prime Minister’s residence in Baluwatar between Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and top leaders of the two major ruling coalition parties.

Present at the meeting are Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba, Vice President Purna Bahadur Khadka, Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak, CPN-UML General Secretary Shankar Pokhrel, Deputy General Secretary Bishnu Prasad Rimal, among others.

The discussion is focused on the severe damage caused by last night’s flood in Rasuwa. More than nine people have been rescued, while around 18 are still missing. Efforts are ongoing to rescue them.

It is reported that the meeting is centered on this very issue. Prime Minister Oli had summoned Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak to Baluwatar for a special discussion on the matter. Now, top leaders from the two parties, along with the Prime Minister and Home Minister, are engaged in talks.

The flood originating from the Chinese side has caused extensive damage in the Rasuwa region. Reports also indicate that people have gone missing in the Trishuli area and its surroundings. Two bodies were recovered from that region, and two individuals were safely rescued by the Nepali Army from the same location.

In addition, an emergency meeting of the Central Security Committee and the Executive Committee of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority is scheduled to be held at 1 PM today at the Ministry of Home Affairs to discuss the damage caused by the flood and related security concerns.
