Birgunj, April 13: The District Administration Office, Parsa has extended the time of the curfew imposed in Birgunj Metropolitan City and surrounding areas to maintain the law and order in the district.

The time of the curfew has been extended from 12 noon until the midnight today.

Chief District Officer of Parsa District, Ganesh Aryal, said the curfew period has been extended until 12 tonight from 12 noon today. The Administration Office, Parsa had enforced curfew from 7.30 pm on Saturday to restore law and order in the metropolis following clashes between Hindus and Muslims in course of a religious procession organized by the former on the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti.

All-party meeting calls for maintaining social harmony

Meanwhile, an all-party meeting convened here today urged all sides to refrain from activities disturbing the law and order and to maintain social harmony and peace. Representatives of various political parties attended the meeting.
The meeting also urged the local organisations and communities not to hold rallies and bandhs. An all-party meeting chaired by Parsa Chief District Officer Ganesh Aryal urged all to maintain social harmony.

The meeting urged all the religions and sects to move ahead in building an equitable society in terms of preserving and promoting unity among diversities, the socio-cultural solidarity, tolerance and harmony by embracing the dignity of our nation with multi-ethnic, multi-lingual, multi-religious and multi-cultural characteristics, CDO Aryal said.

The meeting wished for the speedy recovery of the injured security personnel, media persons and the general public and decided that the State should provide treatment to the injured.

Nepali Congress Parsa President Janardan Singh Chhetri urged the people to maintain peace by maintaining social harmony.
