Court sentences Cricketer Lamichhane 8 years of Jail after rape conviction

Kathmandu, Jan 11: The District Court, Kathmandu on Wednesday has sentenced eight-year imprisonment to cricketer Sandip Lamichhane, after being convicted of rape.
Judge Sishiraj Dhakal on December 29 convicted Lamichhane of rape case filed by ‘Gaushala 26’ and slated 10th January for the announcement of the sentence.
The court has also ordered to pay Rs. five lacs in fine and compensation.
Lamichhane was charged for raping a minor on September last year and was arrested on October 6.
Meanwhile, Patan High Court on January 12 had decided to release Lamichhane on bail of Rs two million with some other conditions.
