Congress proposes, Joshi disposes

Kathmandu: Fearful of a bleak prospect in the April 23 by-election, the Nepali congress leadership today decided to revoke expulsion of prominent Politician Govinda Raj Joshi from the primary membership of the party.

However, Joshi questioned the NC leadership’s right and propriety to decide on his behalf stating ‘I am not even a primary member of the party’.

Joshi, a victim of internal dispute and the wrath of Ram Chandra Poudel, has been approached by the leadership a week after Poudel took over as president.

Along with Joshi, the party has also revoked the expulsion of Bikash Koirala, a former chief of the district chapter of the party.

‘It’s not an issue involving me alone. There are thousands of workers like me whose cases need to be settled,’ Joshi said.

Congress party’s hurried decision appears like a panic reaction to solicit Joshi’s support for the by-election being held on April 23 in which Rastriya Swatantra Party’s candidate Swarnim Wagle is expected to solicit his support.
