Kathmandu – At the ongoing Congress Central Committee meeting, leader Vinod Chaudhary has sharply criticized Shekhar Koirala.

Koirala had raised several questions about President Deuba during Monday’s meeting, including why Chaudhary was allowed to become a central committee member despite not meeting the qualifications.

During the meeting, Koirala questioned Chaudhary’s suitability, asking: “Did Vinod Chaudhary qualify to be a central committee member? Was that reviewed? Did he meet the 10-year active membership requirement? President, you might recall, when Girija Prasad Koirala first competed for the presidency, Sujata Koirala wanted to run for central committee, but because she hadn’t completed 10 years, Girija Babu did not allow her to be a candidate.”

In response, on Tuesday, Chaudhary replied to Koirala’s comments. He said at the meeting, “I want to inform him that all those legal procedures—party rules, his background from another party, analysis by the party’s legal department, the subsequent decision, and even the court’s verdict were all according to the rule.”

Chaudhary didn’t just answer the question about his eligibility. He also leveled serious allegations that Koirala was attempting to rig elections. Chaudhary claimed that Koirala had deployed people to support rival candidate Hridesh Tripathi, saying it was unfair for someone who engaged in such behavior to claim party leadership.

Chaudhary demanded that Koirala’s factional activities be brought under control. He stated, “I urge the President: factional politics also has limits. This is not just about today’s disciplinary action; anyone who continues such activities in the future, harms the party, undermines official candidates, or fails to fulfill responsibilities—against them, we must act immediately, not just lodge complaints.”
