Kathmandu, 30 Nov: Nepal Airlines has come under serious controversy, and for the wrong reason again.

At least 31 passengers booked for Kathmandu Dubai flight for Thursday missed their flight RA 229 as it left the station two hours before schedule to suit the convenience of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda.

The stranded ticket holders are agitated where as a public spirited journalist has taken up the issue with the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) complaining against Nepal Airlines as well as the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN).

‘This incident is particularly troubling considering that the majority of these passengers were Nepalese individuals seeking employment opportunities in Dubai. These individuals had purchased tickets with the expectation of reaching their destination, only to be left stranded in Kathmandu,’ Gajendra Budathoki said.

‘I request ICAO investigate this matter and take appropriate action against Nepal Airlines and CAAN for their failure to fulfill their responsibilities in ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of passengers,’ he added.

Another passenger, Advocate Prajwal Vikram Rana, complained of negligence on the part of the Nepal Airlines.
