China sanctions two high profile Americans
China has gone for retaliatory sanctions against of Chinese origin.
They are Miles Maochun Yu, principal China policy adviser to former secretary of state Mike Pompeo and Todd Setin, deputy staff director of the Congressional-Executive Commission on China.
The sanctions order released Friday, signed by foreign minister Wang YI, is supposed to come into effect immediately, according to the SCMP.
The Beijing sanctions, the paper said, are in relation to recent US sanctions against two senior Chinese officials over activities in Tibet: Wu Yingie, Beijing’s boss in Tibet from 2016 to 2021, and Zhang Hongbo, the region’s police chief since 2018.
