China invites more Nepali students for higher education

Kathmandu: China wants to make its Universities the educational destination for Nepali students for the college and University level
studies.

China’s 31 universities including some top ones will be hold a consultation cum education fair here on Tuesday to respond to the queries of prospective students and their guardians , and facilitate their admission, both in technical –medical, engineering and IT included–as well as humanities and management courses for the upcoming academic sessions.

The edufair is being coordinated  by the Chinese Embassy, and for the Nepali students admission to Chinese educational institutions would be much nearer home, Wang Xin, Deputy Chief of Mission of the Chinese Embassy in Kathmandu said.

According to Kishore Shrestha, Editor of Jana-aastha weekly and Chief of Nepal-China Media Forum, Nepal has over a trillion rupees in
funding the education of Nepali youths abroad in the last financial year, and it will reduce that capital flight if the students here avail quality education under scholarship and cheaper fee structure provided by the Chinese institutions.

He also said that those who go to China for studies are certain to come back to Nepal unlike those who go to the European countries, US and Australia. top destinations of the Nepali students, so far, and ‘ the proposed edu fair by Chinese institutions will dispel negative propaganda about the quality of Chinese degrees.

Dr Harish Chandra Sah, President of the Nepal-China Cultural and Educational Council, key host of the fair said around 500,000 students
from 169 countries are currently studying different subjects in China and Nepal, as the next door neighbour, would benefit largely by sending its students there under the scholarship and self financing scheme.
