Lt Gen Pandey resigns following controversy over age
Kathmandu, 11 Nov: A three star General of the Nepal Army has resigned.
Taradhoj Pandey, who was recently promoted as the Lt. General and was going to succeed as Chief after the retirement of Incumbent Prabhu Ram Sharma in September, has resigned after an inquiry committee to examine allegations of his two citizenship certificates with different dates of birth.
Army Spokesperson, however, told Deshsanchar that has no information about it and ‘I am not in a position to confirm or deny the media reports.’
Lt. Gen Pandey was Army chief Pandey’s favourite as his successor, and threw his weight behind him despite the controversy over multiple citizenship with different dates of birth.
The Commission of inquiry into abuse of authority had written to the Ministry of Defense yesterday asking for a probe into allegations against Pandey.
