Wagner Chief Prigozhin dead in Plane crash in Russia
Yevgeny Prigozhin, Chief of Wagner-private mercenary group- on board a private jet —crashed on Wednesday evening Moscow time, said CNN quoting the Russian Federal Air Transport Agency.
All 10 people on board were killed as the plane en route from Moscow to St Petersburg crashed at tver region in northwest of Mosco, it added quoting the Russian Ministry of Emergency Services
“There was no immediate official comment from the Kremlin or the defence ministry on Prigozhin’s apparent death, which comes two months after his failed mutiny against the Russian defence establishment, perceived by many as humiliating for Vladimir Putin”, according to Guardian Newspaper.
The incident has attracted concern at the highest level in the United States of America suspecting Russian President Vladimir Putin’s involvement in it.
After a briefing on the incident, the US president, Joe Biden, said: “I don’t know for a fact what happened. But I’m not surprised … There is not much that happens in Russia that Putin is not behind, but I don’t know enough to know the answer,” it further mentioned.
