CJ Shrestha takes oath of office and secrecy
Kathmandu, 22 Aug: Bishwambhar Prasad Shrestha, newly appointed Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, has today taken the oath of office and secrecy.
President Ram Chandra Poudel administered the oath at a programme held at Sheetal Niwas, the office of the President.
Vice President Ramsahaya Prassad Yadav, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, Speaker Devraj Ghimire, Minister of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Dhanraj Gurung, heads of constitutional bodies, Supreme Court justices, high-ranking government officials were present at the ceremony.
President Poudel had appointed Shrestha as the Chief Justice on Monday in accordance with Article 129 of the Constitution and on the recommendation of the Constitutional Council.
The Parliamentary Hearing Committee, on Monday, had unanimously approved Shrestha for the post.
