SC issues show cause order on case filed against PM Dahal and Dr Bhattarai

Kathmandu, 13 June: The Supreme Court today has issued a show cause order against Prime Minister and Chairperson Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist Centre) Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’and Chariman of the Janata Samajbadi Party, Dr Baburam Bhattarai who is also a former Maoist leader.

A single bench of Justice Sapana Malla issued the order hearing on a case registered by nine ‘disqualified’ combatants including Lelin Bista.

The petitioners have alleged that the then Maoist leaders duo committed war crimes recruiting children as the Maoist combatants during decade long insurgency.

The Court has also ordered that the cause be dealt with top priority.
