KMC mayor Balen remains absent from the Republic Day ceremony

Kathmandu, May 29: Usually, what is noticed during any formal celebration is the kind of people and what happened there.

But the main official ceremony of the 16th Republic Day is being talked about for the clemency provided to Resham Chaudhary, leader of the Nagarik Unmukti Party, serving life term following his conviction in a murder case, coupled with absence of Kathmandu Mayor Balendra Shah ‘Balen’, in the main function held at Sainik Manch in Tundikhel.

Deputy Mayor Sunita Dangol was also absent. Both Balen and Dangol had attended the ceremony last year.

However, the metropolis source said that it has no information regarding their absence.
