Balkot meeting-consensus to begin the process to appoint CJ
Kathmandu, 17 Apr: The meeting of top leaders of the three major parties held at the residence of former prime minister and CPN-UML chief K P Oli has decided to begin the process of appointment of the Chief Justice which has been lying vacant for the past 14 months.
The meeting of the constitutional council that has majority control of the UML will be called soon and that will begin the process of CJ appointment, Ramesh Lekhakh leader of the Nepali Congress said.
The meeting was held at Oli’s residence in Balkot as he is recovering from viral fever. PM Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Speaker Devraj Ghimire, former PM and NC president Sher Bahadur Deuba attended the meeting.
The meeting was initiated by the Speaker to discuss the bills relating to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission as well as on Enforced Disappearance Act, and Constitutional Council Acts.
