French Prez on a three-day state visit in China
Kathmandu: Emmanuel Macron, French president, has reached Beijing, the capital of China Wednesday afternoon for his three-day state visit.
Macron stated China “had a major role” to play in finding an end to the Ukraine war, writes the South China Morning Post quoting Agence France Presse.
It is scheduled that Macron will have state dinner with his counterpart Xi Jinping Thursday and they both are set to visit Guangzhou in Guangdong and have private dinner.
France being one of the prominent trading allies of China in Europe, China’s priority on economy is expressed even through the site chosen as ‘Guangzhou, provincial capital of Guangdong, an export powerhouse and one of China’s most affluent regions (SCMP)’. Further, “It is rare for Xi to meet foreign dignitaries outside Beijing”, reads the SCMP.
Likewise, France’s preferences on trade and commerce is expressed as Macron stated “We must not disassociate ourselves, separate ourselves from China”, adding that France would “commit proactively to continue to have a commercial relationship with China”, SCMP writes.
