Timal Jatra celebration at Boudhnath Stupa in pictures

Kathmandu: Timal Jatra, believed to be centuries old, is one of the major festivals of the Tamang Community.

Thousands of people from the Tamang community across the country gather at Boudhanath Stupa to celebrate the Timal Jatra, every year in the month of Chaitra.

The members gathered at Boudhanath Stupa offer Nagsal-butter lamps and prayers to pay homage to deceased family members.

It is also believed that the celebration of Timal Jatra indicates rain’s arrival.
