AIG Kunwar promoted to Nepal Police chief

Additional Inspector General (AIG) Basanta Bahadur Kunwar has been promoted to the post of Inspector General of the Nepal Police.
The cabinet meeting held today decided in this regard, according to Surya Kiran Sharma, press coordinator of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’.
Kunwar was promoted to AIG as per the decision of March 20. AIGs—Tek Prasad Rai, Deepak Thapa, Shyam Lal Gyawali and Kiran Bajracharya along with Kunwar were in the race for IGP.
Sitting IGP Dhiraj Pratap Singh is retiring today after completing a 30-year tenure in the service.
