The Social Security Scheme to cover migrant workers begins

The Social Security Fund has begun to include migrant workers and self-employed persons from today onward.

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has launched the scheme today at a programme hosted by The Social Security Fund.

The migrant workers living abroad could enlist them from the website of the fund and deposit minimum of RS 2000 monthly.

The migrant workers can deposit the amount using eSewa, Connect IPS and Khalti.

The contribution-based social security scheme has been brought into implementation since 27 November 2018.

According to the Social Security Fund, 399,566 employees of formal sector have enrolled in the fund and Rs 30 billion and 870 million has been deposited to the fund. The Fund has made payment of Rs 3 billion and 810 million to the contributors as per their claim.
