China reopens Nepal as tourist destination

In a diplomacy marked with gesture, China has reopened Nepal as a ‘Tourist destination’ on the very day President Xi Jinping’s extension of tenure for the third term.

That will lead to visit of Chinese tourists in a big number in Nepal giving a boost to its tourism and industries that has suffered after the 2015 earthquake and the pandemic that followed.

Diplomatically, China has given a message that Nepal remains its concern at the topmost level.

President xi had pledged to invest in Nepal’s key sectors including tourism and hospitality apart from Energy, trade and investment as well as post earthquake reconstruction.
