MoPIT forms taskforce to reform public transport

An expert-led panel has been formed by the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport (MoPIT) in order to recommend the means to reform the public transportation system in the country.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Narayan Kaji Shrestha formed a seven member ‘study taskforce on vehicle pollution, road safety and road accident reduction’.

Sharad Chandra Paudel, former secretary is coordinator of the taskforce while Dr Tokraj Pandey is the member-secretary.

The members include Former Additional Inspector General (AIG) of Nepal Police Bigyan Raj Sharma, Prof Dr Padam Bahadur Shahi of Pulchowk Engineering Campus, public transport expert Madhu Sudan Acharya and engineer Bijay Gautam are the members in the taskforce. The taskforce shall have a representative from the public transport entrepreneur.
