Moderate rain and snowfall expected in several provinces across Nepal

Currently, the country is experiencing the effects of the monsoon winds. The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, Meteorological Forecasting Division, has reported that the monsoon trough is positioned slightly above its average location, near the Terai region of Nepal.

According to the division, the weather across the country is generally cloudy today. Moderate rainfall is occurring in some areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces, as well as in a few places in Karnali province.

This afternoon, the weather is expected to remain generally cloudy nationwide. There is a possibility of moderate rain and snowfall accompanied by thunder and lightning in some Himalayan areas of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, and in a few Himalayan areas of Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces.

The division’s bulletin indicates a likelihood of moderate rain with thunder and lightning in some parts of the hilly and Terai regions. There is a possibility of heavy rainfall in some hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces, as well as in a few Terai areas of Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces.

Similarly, tonight, the weather is expected to remain generally cloudy across the country. There is a possibility of moderate rain and snowfall with thunder and lightning in some Himalayan areas of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, and in a few Himalayan areas of Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces, according to the division.

There is a likelihood of moderate rain with thunder and lightning in some parts of the hilly and Terai regions. Heavy rainfall is possible in a few hilly areas of Koshi province and in some Terai areas of Koshi and Lumbini provinces.

The division has warned of the possibility of heavy rainfall in Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces. It has advised taking necessary precautions to avoid risks or damage from potential landslides, floods, and erosion that could affect daily life, agriculture, health, tourism, mountaineering, road, and air transport in these areas. The division has also urged the public to stay updated with its latest information.
