Rastriya Swatantra Party holds first national convention in Chitwan

The first national convention of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) is currently underway in Chitwan, with voting in progress. Voting began last night to elect new party officials (members). According to the party’s central election commission, the first phase of voting will continue until 12:00 PM today.

So far, over 1,600 representatives have cast their votes. Chief of the commission, Bhuvan KC, stated that 384 candidates have registered for the central member elections in the first phase. Among these, 210 candidates are contesting in the open category, while 174 are contesting in the geographical category. Five members will be elected from each province, totaling 35 elected from the seven provinces, and 64 positions are open, for which 210 candidates have registered.

According to Chief KC, the number of candidates from each province is as follows: 18 from Sudurpaschim, 20 from Madhesh, 31 from Lumbini, 20 from Koshi, 31 from Karnali, 27 from Bagmati, and 27 from Gandaki. These candidates are vying for 59 central member positions. Voting is taking place at the exhibition center of the Industrial Association in Chitwan. The results of the first phase will be announced within two hours after voting concludes.

Following the announcement of results, the second phase of voting will commence. In this phase, all representatives will vote for the party officials.
